![]() Why does he respond to this particular conversation if Leave a Legacy isn't supposed to be deceptive? Someone says that CDbaby won't take down your music, and then he says "we also offer the same model, it is called Leave a Legacy. So I’ve actually tried quite a few aggregators and have decided that after enough shitty experiences I’m actually going to start my own. If you plan on making your music available for multiple years, you're saving money."ĭistroKid founder here."Leave a Legacy" is our version of CD Baby's model & pricing, for those who prefer it-but we still don't take any percentage (I think CD Baby takes 9% forever) "CD Baby has no yearly fee and won't take down your music. What's the downside/catch or where would others have an advantage?" Check out this conversation between 2 redditors and the distrokid founder from 17 days ago: and it obviously is unclear, since it is always getting posted here(like the post we're on right now). That is designed to sound unclear so more people buy it. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO TO KEEP THE MUSIC ONLINE, it's not in their storage facility or severs, right? My guess: if you just say nothing and stop paying you won't be able to release anymore but your music will stay online, and DK will keep getting those pennies and say nothing. ![]() Can't see that happening if you don't force it. You have to "do something" to them (some kind of dispute) to have them put a guy in his computer to spend some time online asking every service to remove your tracks. My point is: do you know anybody that stopped paying DK and had his/her music taken down by them? Did that happen?īecause my guess is that they just let it stay there and get the small cash it generates. I want them to take down my tracks.Īsking that is a process, they "must do it" you need to provide information for that etc. Now I've been experiencing with Soundcloud (I'm premier and had distribution "free" this December) but it didn't work well.
